Camelback bridge.

Erected in 1889.

We're told that the bridge's main span is a "wooden kingpost pony truss." Which is surprisingly difficult to say. Especially when it's cold outside.

The iron supports are called Phoenix columns, which were patented by the Phoenix Iron Company in 1862.

Those Phoenix columns are very cool.

Why do so many things look like UFOs? And did designers and architects start using that shape after it became popular because of UFOs? I believe the first UFO illustrations were penned in the days of art deco streamlining.

And why do our actual space probes look so ungainly by comparison?

These little guys can be seen hovering along outside the multi-modal transportation center.

One of the best things about the trail is the light.
Winter is the best — there's more light streaming through the bare trees.

The shadows are always amazing.
